About the Race
Welcome to the Second Annual Find Your Pulse event! This year, we are adding a half marathon distance to our 5k and kids 1 mile run. All proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Baraboo.
Post-race entertainment will be provided by the Blacker Brothers Band. Refreshments available for purchase from Barabrew Liquors. Food vendors will also be on-site for purchase. There will be a designated Kid Zone with kid refreshments and games.
All finishers receive a swag bag and race shirts. Half marathon finishers receive a race mug and one drink ticket.
The event will take place at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in the Litscher Pavilion (beer tent). Please dress for the weather.
Registration prices increase October 14th. Online registration available until October 19th. Register in person after that at the Race Expo on October 20th or at the Fairgrounds on race day.
Course Route
Route:
Start: Sauk County Fairgrounds
South on Washington
Left on Water St.
Right on Effinger
West on Manchester
Left on Race Dr.
Left on Hill St.
Left on Kessler Rd.
Continue on Cty Rd W to halfway point (6.55 miles from start)
Turn around and retrace course back to Fairgrounds
5k route will follow the same route and turn around after 1.55 miles.
Aid Stations:
There will be three stations, but with the way the course is routed, 5k runners will hit 1 aid station (1.5 mile mark*) and half marathoners will hit 5 aid stations (1.5*, 4, 6.55*, 9.1, and 11.6* mile marks). The markers with an asterisk will have a port-a-potty. All mile markers are estimates, but will be really close to actual locations come race day.
Each aid station will have water and gatorade. The half way point for half marathoners will have bananas and/or energy chews.
Aid stations will be staffed by generous sponsors Countryside Cleanup, Don-Rick Insurance, and Deppe Transit.
Here is a course route review from Pulse Endurance Athlete and Ironman Tyler Greenwood: "Ran the Pulse 1/2 Marathon route today, here is my review. This course is fast! A great run to grab a PR on as an experienced runner and a good course to knock a 1/2 marathon off your bucket list as it has very little elevation change. The hills leaving town are minimal, other than Hill St. no real significant climbs. The return trip will keep you honest if you went out of the gate too fast. There are 2 longer climbs on CTH W but they are both followed by equal descents/flats. Kessler Rd. has some short and quick climbs but your legs are quick to remind you that they have traveled 12 miles and are over this nonsense. The last 1/2 mile of the course greets you with the most significant climb of the run, it's the equivalent of Brandon having you do Pulse squats the last 5 minutes of your workout. Bite down and finish strong! There isn't much shading but with an October run starting in the morning that shouldn't be an issue. I aimed for 9 minute/miles; if it wasn't for my Garmin I would have had a hard time holding back, PACE YOURSELF."
